Thanks to all your donations in the gear room piggy-bank when borrowing club gear we've been able to raise £100 for Scottish Mountain Rescue! So thank you all very much for your donations!

The photo competition votes have been counted, and I am pleased to be able to announce the winners! The winners each receive a “lucky dip” prize (these should be available at the pub next week!). The “grand winner”, Andy M, receives a £20 Tiso voucher instead as his winning photograph had the most votes overall. The club budget can’t unfortunately stretch to prizes for the runners up – so you’ll just have to give yourselves a pat on the back :) Now, without further ado, here are the winning photos:

The long awaited photo competition is now online! Go to http://www.flickr.com/photos/49697028@N07/sets/ - the 5 categories each appear as an album. I recommend clicking on a category, then clicking on the “Slideshow” button (top right) to view them. By request, all photos are anonymous – this should make voting fairer and was the only way to persuade people to submit embarrassing photos ;)

Due to the high number of members this year (over 300!) we have decided to not sign up anymore new members after the Easter holidays. That means that tomorrow, Tuesday 23rd March, is your last chance to sign up for the academic year 2009/2010. So if you havent signed up yet and are planning to do so, then come along to Doctors tomorrow evening from 8.30pm onwards and find Erik to sign you up. Membership is £15 for the rest of the academic year, i.e. till the end of May.

Come along to the AGM to discuss the running of the club and elect (and/or stand for!) next year's committee. The AGM will be followed by a fantastic ceilidh, and there will also undoubtedly be plenty of cake to encourage you all to attend! Please note that you must be a fully matriculated Edinburgh University student to vote, propose/second people for positions, or be on the committee.

Due to lack of drivers we have had to cancel the upcoming daytrip to Drumochter & Blair Atholl on Sunday 21st February. We're very sorry about this, as we are aware that some people might have been counting on going on this daytrip, but after searching desperately for drivers over the last few days we just haven't got enough people to be able to run two daytrips.

Congratulations to Eva who last night, at the Sports Union ball, won an Executive Committee award for major services to the club. Eva has done a tremendous amount for the club over the last couple of years, and it is fantastic that this has been recognised by the SU. Well done Eva!!!

Thank you to everyone who attended the winter introductory daytrip to Glen Shee last weekend. Around 30 winter "beginners" had the opportunity to enjoy their first walk in winter conditions on what was a fun and sociable day. Thank you also to Roger Wild, the MCofS Student Safety officer, for taking one of the groups, and for helping to make this day such a success!

If you're not a member yet, its never too late to join. Just come along to Doctors bar on Forrest Road any Tuesday evening from 8.30pm onwards and find our secretary Erik to sign up for membership. For one semester it's only £15!
