Edinburgh University Hillwalking Club

Next weekend (22nd-24th January) is the almighty Burns weekend trip!
We're going to Loch Lochy like last year, which many of you may
remember as a great banter!

The main attraction of the trip is Burns supper on Saturday, where not
only will we eat loads of delicious traditional food but also
celebrate the birth of a Scottish poet and songwriter Robert Burns!
You will experience a night full of poetry, games, gossip and
obviously alcohol (and in some cases memory loss).

SIGNUP
The signup will take place on Tuesday 19th January in the pub Doctors.
It will start at 8.30pm, however, as Burns is one of the most popular
trips in the year, come early to be sure you get on the list. The cost
of the trip will be £40 (including food on Saturday night and milk for
those who want it). Please bring money with you when you sign up
(cheques preferable) and your membership card with your membership
number on it (remember the card gets you a 20% discount at the bar in
Doctors on a Tuesday). For those wishing to join the club you will be
able to become a member at the same time as signing up for the trip!

ACCOMODATION
We'll be staying in the Great Glen Hostel
http://www.greatglenhostel.com/ which has great facilities such as a
big kitchen, a common room for socialising, hot showers and a drying
room for wet gear.

FOOD & DRINK
We will stop for a chippie on the way north. On Saturday evening
we'll be having a 3 course meal including haggis, neeps and tatties as
the main. Remember to bring alcohol with you if you would like to
drink as there will be no shop to get it from!

WALKS
There are plenty of possibilities for walks around Loch Lochy. We will
be offering a range of walks so don't worry if you're "not that fit
anymore" (Christmas=loads of eating+ little exercise) :P However,
remember it will be cold and very snowy so you will need to have stiff
sole boots and proper winter clothes.

We will be sending more details on arrangements and what to bring
