Come and join us for a walk up Arthur's Seat, our beloved Edinburgh mountain, and enjoy the amazing views all across the city. Find out everything about the club: who we are, what we do, how to sign up for membership and meet loads of other hillwalking enthusiasts. After the walk we will be heading to Doctors, our weekly pub meeting place, for drinks and some free food!
Meet outside Pollock Halls Main Reception at 2pm on Sunday 19th September
On Tuesday 21st September 2010 we're holding our anual New Members' Night in Appleton Tower (exact location TBC) at 7.30pm. We'll start off with a presentation explaining everything you need to know about the club and then if you like the sound of it (which we hope you will!) you can sign up for membership afterwards. All new members who sign up tonight will get a £5 discount on the normal membership fee, so it's only £20 for the whole year or £10 for one semester!
As is our tradition, we'll be starting the year with our Freshers' Daytrips to Arrochar (on Saturday 25th September) and Crianlarich (on Sunday 26th September). Both places are great locations in the South-West Highlands with lots of good hills to climb. You don't have to be a Fresher to come on these daytrips, everyone is welcome! Each daytrip will cost £15 and signup will happen on Tuesday 21st September in Appleton Tower straight after our Freshers' Introductory Presentation.
For our first weekend trip, we're heading to Kinlochleven in the West Highlands. This village at the end of Loch Leven is a perfect base for exploring the Mamores, a range of beautiful mountains linked together by some fine ridges. We'll be staying at the Blackwater Hostel.
The Cairngorms National Park is one of the 15 national parks in the UK and one of only 2 in Scotland! It is an area of outstanding natural beauty and has an abundance of wildlife. We'll be staying in the Abernethy Bunkhouse in Nethybridge, on the Northern side of the National Park. It's just a short drive away from the Cairngorm Ski Centre which provides easy access to the hills.
