The winter introductory daytrip is a new event for this year, and is aimed to give those who have little or no experience of walking in winter conditions a chance to have a taster, rather than being thrown in at the deep end! We will spend the day out on the hill, on short walks, probably somewhere near Drumochter, practising basic winter hillwalking techniques in small groups. This is a chance to get used to winter hillwalking, without any pressure. So if you have little or no experience of walking in winter, we strongly encourage you to attend – it will be an extremely valuable experience and you will learn essential skills that you will be able to put into practise on subsequent trips this semester. At just £15, it is a bargain!
This trip will only work if we have sufficient drivers and walk organisers! If you have led groups in winter before, it would be fantastic if you could please volunteer to help out on Sunday 17th as a walk organiser (or co-organiser). The aim of this day is to help those who have less experience of walking in winter to develop basic winter skills – not only will you be doing a great service to the club, but it will also be very fun (who doesn’t enjoy playing in the snow? :p). As a big thank you to drivers and walk organisers, this trip will be completely FREE for you! So please volunteer! If you would like to organise a walk or drive (either a CSE bus or your own car), please email Alex (alex.tuck@ed.ac.uk) by Monday 11th.
