Tuesday 27th April, 20.30, Doctors
If you fancy a break from all the hard work then read on as the last daytrips of the year
are taking place on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd May. In true hillwalking style, we're
going to keep our options relatively flexible with two destinations in mind: Ben Cruachan
/ Loch Awe in the West and Glen Lyon in the East, we'll go in whatever direction the
weather is forecast to be best on either day so you'll be walking in sunshine!
----- Ben Cruachan -----
Ben Cruachan is just beyond Tyndrum very close to the West coast, forming part of a
mountain range between Loch Awe and Loch Etive. Ben Cruachan is described as being one of
the finest Munros in the Southern Highlands with a pointed peak towering over its rocky
satellites, but there are plenty of other Munros to choose from too. For all the
engineering enthusiasts, the mountain is hollow as it features a working power station
with the world's first high head reversible pumped storage hydro scheme - an educational
walk perhaps?
----- Glen Lyon -----
The club has already visited Glen Lyon back in December, but the Glen is fantastic which
is why we would like to go back again. With access to the Invervar horseshoe, the Ben
Lawers range and some easier Munros at the end of the Glen, there is plenty to choose
from.
----- Sign up -----
Sign up will be on Tuesday 27th April at 20:30 in Doctors, please remember to bring your
membership card and payment, preferably by cheque. The trip costs £15 unless you're
driving, in which case you get the usual £10 discount. If you are able and willing to
drive a CSE minibus or your own car then please reply to this email before 16:00 on
Monday.
That's all for now. Good luck to those of you who have exams!
Best wishes,
Madeleine, Claire & Eva
