Winter Skills

Winter Skills at Firbush
Date:
22 February 2008 - 24 February 2008
Meet Organisers:
Mary

The WINTER SKILLS COURSE will be held at Firbush 22-24th Feb. This is an opportunity to learn and practise using ace axes and crampons. There will also be tuition on navigating in winter conditions.

Teaching is provided by fully qualified mountain instructors. This course should give you the confidence to lead walks for the club or walk independently in winter conditions. As people who went on the Navigation Skills Course will confirm, Firbush is absolutely brilliant. It's in a really pretty setting, the food is fantastic and the instructors are fun and incredibly knowlegdeable.

The cost of the weekend is £65. The sports union is subsidising the trip for us (it would be £82 per place otherwise), so it really is a bargain. I know its still more expensive than other trips but I promise the food and instructors are worth it!

The sign up will be next Tuesday (5th Feb) at 9 pm, at the Southsider. You'll need to pay for the trip when you sign up.

There are 4 members who applied for the Catherine Smith Memorial Trust but didn't get it. They will have priority on the winter skill course. If you feel that you're particularly dedicated to the club, will be a member next year and are keen to lead for the club, please e-mail me to state your case and you may get priority. Otherwise places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
