The Committee

The club is run by a committee of 13 people, and this years committee is listed below. If you would like to get in touch with any of us please use our contact form, or come and speak to us on a Tuesday evening at our regular pub meet.

President – Monika O’Shea

Monika O'Shea As President, Monika is in charge of keeping everything and everyone in order and on time. Besides organisation, she likes books, hills and food. If you have any general questions about the Club, just contact her! Monika is a 3rd year Geophysics student from Melrose, Massachusetts.

Secretary – Rebecca Meacham

Rebecca Meachum As secretary, Becky is in charge of the club’s administration. This includes liaising with the Sports Union, other university bodies and the MCofS; record-keeping; and making essential bookings. Becky is a 4th year Arts student from Macclesfield, Cheshire.

Treasurer – Adam Carnall

Sexy Adam CarnallAdam is in charge of the club’s budget, claiming grants, signing cheques and sending accounts to the Sports Union. Please help him out by making sure that you pay for things promptly, and please provide receipts for any expense claims! Adam is studying for a PhD in Astrophysics and is from Thirsk, North Yorkshire.

Vice President and Alumni Officer – Callum Girdwood

Callum Girdwood As Vice President, Callum supports the other members of the committee, providing help and advice as needed. Callum is also the club’s Alumni Officer, and is organising the club’s 30th Anniversary Trip, if you have any questions about alumni get in touch!Callum is a 5th year Mechanical Engineering student from Holmfirth, Yorkshire.

Meet Secretary – Daniel Jenkins

Daniel "lad" Jenkins Daniel is a third year Mathematical physics student from Kilmaurs. This year he is in charge of booking all of the hostels, coaches, minibuses, as well as organising courses for potential minibus drivers.

Safety Secretary – Harry Carstairs

Harry Carstairs Harry is a third year physics student. His favourite thing about hillwalking is jumping in a river afterwards, his proudest moment was his Immortal Memory speech on the Burns trip, and his most prized possession is a pair of stripy trousers, you’ll see why.

Gear Secretary – Griffin Ernest

Griffin Ernest Griffin is in charge of the equipment , from lending out equipment on trips to keeping the gear store tidy. Return all borrowed kit promptly to Griffin either upon return from a trip or at the next pub meet. If you need to borrow any kit from the club please contact him at griffinernest@gmail.com. Griffin is a 3rd year Economics student from Denver, Colorado.

Webmaster – Jonathan Osborne

Jonathan A Osborne Jonathan is responsible for keeping the club’s website up to date, and for managing the club’s email lists. If you experience problems with either, or you think that anything should be updated or changed then please get in touch with him. Jonathan is a 4th year Mathematics student from Ullapool in the Highlands. Hobbies are limited to hillwalking.

Social Secretaries;

  • Imogen Christopher

Imo Imogen is a 3rd year Chemistry student from Southport, Merseyside and when not hillwalking enjoys cooking and getting into a good book.

  • Rosie Callan

Rosie Rosie is a second year Geology student from Manchester, England.

Imogen and Rosie together are responsible for socials, making sure we all have fun off the hills as well as on them!

Publicity Officer – Siônyn Ford

Siônyn Ford Siônyn designs and creates a variety of club leaflets and posters as well as publicising our various EUHWC events across the university (By Design they mean steals Becky’s old designs). Siônyn will produce this year’s club’s yearbook and asks that you all send your trip reports, photos, all the hilarious gossip and disturbing quotes to him! Siônyn studies Vet Med and seems to hate most animals bar dogs, cows and sheep. Sheep, not so surprising from a Welshman.

Members Without Portfolio (aka ‘Random Bods’)

  • Emma Carroll

emmaEmma is a second year Geology Student from Dalry.

  • Matt Purslow

Matt Bod Now a third year Geophysics and Meteorology student, Matt grew up in Bollington, on the western fringe of the Peak District. He is a (mediocre) musician and photographer.

As ‘Random Bods’ Matt and Donald organise  the clothing order and  help other committee members – or you – with any extra club related business.
